Lewis County may not have the extreme fire danger present in the eastern part of the state, but the potential for a wildfire within the county is an everpresent danger. The county enacts burning restrictions and bans in a measure to help prevent a wildfire from starting. However, sometimes accidents happen, and given the right conditions, a wildfire in our area can cause devastation.
Lewis County Fire District 5 participates in the NFPA FireWise program. The program has resources to help ensure your house is less likely to be damaged or destroyed by a wildfire. From removing vegetation around your home to installing fire resistive fences and patios, the chances of being a wildfire victim.
